My name is Wayne Walker, and I’m a pastor to the homeless in Dallas. With my loving wife Carolyn and our wonderful kids, we serve as missionaries to the least of these.
I have been working with the homeless every week for over ten years. I have sat quietly and listened to countless individuals cry over the pain in their life. I have heard the most heartbreaking testimonies and have also witnessed the most courageous victories. I have seen the power of God change men and women from a wretch into a child of God.
I grew up in a Godly home and my parents served the Lord well. But because of depression and an addiction I hid my struggles from the world around me. For a portion of my life I hated the person I saw in the mirror. I hated who I had become and how far I had let myself go.
God performed an amazing miracle in my life. I learned that I was created in His image. And although I don’t see his image clearly in the mirror today, I am his creation, marred by sin and yet redeemed by Christ.
I learned that only through His strength could I overcome the challenges in my life and the addiction that was eating me alive. I was a wretch and was lost. Christ found me, saved me, and I know that He can save you, too.

Building relationships that lead to discipleship is the best approach to change.
OurCalling started as a few volunteers who distributed sandwiches to homeless men and women in downtown Dallas. With the Lord’s blessing it has grown much bigger. Now we are a 501c3 non-profit and have grown to include multiple churches and partner organizations. We have a diverse board of directors, and under their supervision I serve as a full-time missionary to the homeless, a pastor to the needy. I have 15 years of evangelism experience and a masters degree in Cross Cultural Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary.
My vision, as a Pastor to the homeless and Executive Director of OurCalling, Inc., is to see believers involved in God’s work by bridging the gap between the homeless and the housed community. We don’t bus the poor to the church, we bus the church to the poor. We bring the hands of Christ to those who need Him most. There is no quick-fix to a broken life. Transformation occurs through the Gospel and long term Discipleship, and we can’t accomplish this without the involvement of God’s children. We need every church to impassion their congregations to get involved by being part of the solution.
The solution is not an organization, movement, or mission. The Gospel of Christ and the hope found in Him is the only solution for the lost. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. That was His calling, and it is OurCalling.
As a ministry, OurCalling presented the gospel over 13,000 in 2010. We filled over 2,600 volunteer positions including groups from churches and organizations from all over the country. Our Bible Studies, Life Skills, and Discipleship opportunities are growing beyond capacity at every location. We need more teachers, more volunteers, more space, and more commitment.
The Lord has blessed us with individuals who have partnered in our ministry. However, we are still in need of new partners who will join with us in commitments to serve and to give in order to meet the needs of the “least of these”.
I would love to speak to you personally and answer any questions that you might have. Please call (214-444-8796) or send me a message in the form below. Can I speak to your church, small group, or friends about OurCalling?
