God provides

I received a call earlier in the week. I was told that no one at the bridge could take a shower because they were out of soap and towels. Calls kept coming into my voicemail about it. My first response was to call the administration at the bridge and see if there was anything we could do to help. I left voicemail and email. Just in case, I went ahead and started making calls to find resources. I called other homeless ministries, our leadership and local stores. Our own storage builing is empty, other ministries were running short and stores were just too expensive. And then I started to...

A happy 4yr old

It takes a brave man to admit that he needs help. Donald is one of those men. Donald is a recovering addict that celebrated his 4th year of sobriety. Sunday night I was given the privilege of telling his story and introducing him at a local AA meeting. It was a beautiful moment when I handed him his four year chip. Donald used to be homeless. He was addicted to alcohol and crack. That experience and his recovery have given him an amazing platform to share God’s love to many other homeless individuals who live through the same nightmares. How to find a missing person

Posted by on Feb 14, 2008 in Journal Entries | 0 comments

I meet many homeless men and women who are searching for lost loved ones. One guy hasn’t seen his family in years and only has a name to search with. Another has an old address that the family once lived at, but has since moved from. How do you search for a missing person? There are a tons of web searches and services that allow you to pay a premium to find people. Google only goes so far and old records are even harder to come by. I am asking because I can’t find the answer. I need a search tool that allows us to search by various criteria. Sometimes we know a name, an age and an...
