I received a call earlier in the week. I was told that no one at the bridge could take a shower because they were out of soap and towels. Calls kept coming into my voicemail about it. My first response was to call the administration at the bridge and see if there was anything we could do to help. I left voicemail and email. I get asked this questions quite often. Worse yet, I hear people asking the homeless “so why don’t you just move into a shelter”. I have no more right to suggest that they move off of the street than one might have to ask me why I don’t live in a bigger house! The question is easy – but the answer is complicated.
