Please pray for Danny. He is starting a new job at the VA in the custodial services department. Danny is married and he and his wife both live at the Bridge.
Dallas Disabled Homeless War Veterans Association is a new group forming downtown to tackle issues relates to… well – read the name. They are a group of veterans who want to raise awareness of the plight of homeless veterans and work to better their lives with counseling, 12-step recovery programs and social services. This group is just getting it’s feet off of the ground but they have been planning this for some time. Pray for them as they seek wisdom to guide this vision.
I met Ricky from Balch Spring. Ricky has been at the Bridge for 2 months. He told me that he has maintained his sobriety for 7 years. I always ask “How” – and he immediately exclaimed “Because of Jesus Christ”. Please pray for Ricky to find a job. Also praise God for his sobriety and ask God to use him to share the truth of Christ with others. Ricky told me that he is starving for a Bible study downtown.
I also met a man named Billy Wayne (Great middle name! – I told him that he must be a genius). We laughed together and spoke about his current situation and the Bridge. He told me that services are available to help people if they want them. He also told me that the biggest omission from the bridge is any kind of spiritual influence. He explained that he wanted a good Bible study – and that is on par with everything else I hear from everyone else.
I so wish we could hold a Bible study at the Bridge like we have at other places. Pray for these guys. Pray that God will open doors.
~Wayne

Wayne,
They have regular Bible study at the Stewpot. All your friend needs to do is inquire about it. It is open to everyone. Are they prohibiting it at The Bridge because it is owned by the city?
